The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, has urged men of the Nigerian military to preserve the security of the nation, stating that it should be their utmost priority, News About Nigeria reports.
Badaru, who was represented by the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, gave this charge to the military during the decoration of newly promoted senior officers at the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters in Abuja on Friday, urging them to ensure they do not disappoint Nigerians.
He noted that the country and the military were going through challenging times concerning insecurity, and therefore what was expected of them at this time was utmost professionalism and that they put their best foot forward and ensure that they deliver with commensurate outputs.
He, therefore, urged the military to put their all into reviewing their strategies, tactics, techniques, and procedures for them to effectively combat the insecurity plaguing various parts of the country and ensure that citizens of the country are safe.
He further urged them not to lose sight of the ongoing fight and focus on putting an end to terrorism, banditry, and all other forms of criminality.
“Your mandate is to successfully execute all such operations necessary to preserve national security and territorial integrity,” he said.
He, however, called on the newly promoted officers to put more effort into ensuring that all security threats in all parts of the country, especially in Plateau State were brought to an end permanently and the people were free to move about their daily activities without fear.
