A political activist in Delta State, Jude Ojiugo-Onochie, has stated that the governor of the state, Sheriff Oborevweri, is unprepared for the role of governance, News About Nigeria reports.
The activist said this while faulting the attitude of the governor towards the appointment of certain vital officials in the state.
While speaking to newsmen on Wednesday, Ojiugo-Onochie noted that the governor had yet to appoint commissioners for the Ministry of Information and Justice, months after he was sworn in as Governor, describing it as a lackadaisical attitude towards governance.
He maintained that Delta State lacked a mouthpiece, as this was the duty of a commissioner for information, while the Commissioner for Justice/Attorney General is also a very key position, especially in advising the state on legal matters.
He also claimed that according to information that was gotten, the governor was saving the slot for the position of Justice/Attorney General for one of his election petition legal team members.
According to him, the governor planned on appointing his person as the commissioner for justice, and that was the reason he was delaying the appointment of the position.
However, the reasons behind this rationale remained unknown to the people of the state.
Ojiugo-Onochie maintained that the actions of the governor showed that he did not prepare for who to appoint before coming to power, adding that they did not portray a good omen for the state.
He also noted that there would be no political will on the part of those ministries to execute the policies and programmes of the state without commissioners.
