Driver Dies As Bus Collide With Truck On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

A family of eight has reportedly died in an auto crash at the Amanwozuzu junction in the Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo state, News About Nigeria reports.

It was gathered that the family was travelling to Imo State for the New Year celebrations when the unfortunate incident happened on Friday.

The Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Ikeduru LGA, Lucky Ahiole, confirmed the incident, stating that it was a sorry sight and also expressing sadness at the fact that no one survived the accident.

The Chief Superintendent of Police also noted that the father of the family, who was conveying his wife and children in a Sienna vehicle, ran into a stationary truck carrying rods.

According to him, the stationary truck was parked at the roadside when the driver of the Sienna vehicle ran into it.

He further stated that the accident was a fatal one, as the rods pierced the eyes and bodies of the victims, killing even the children in the vehicle.

He stated, however, that the bodies had been deposited in a morgue.

“It is terrible. Eight died, and we have taken them to a morgue. We had to break the Sienna vehicle to bring out the dead bodies. The rod pierced their eyes and bodies, and even the children died,” he said.

An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity, however, stated that the stationary truck carrying rods was blocking the road, adding that the tragedy could have been averted if the truck had not parked on the road.
