Local government officials of Oyo State who were sacked by Governor Seyi Makinde have faulted his reaction to the judgement of the Supreme Court, News About Nigeria reports.
They made this known while reacting to the governor’s statement on Wednesday in the state.
The group, led by Prince Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye, stated that the reaction of the governor to the judgement of the court on their unpaid allowances is highly deceptive and a deliberate attempt at misinformation.
Recall that Governor Seyi Makinde disclosed on Saturday that the former local government chairmen and councillors were distracting his government.
Reacting to this claim, the chairman of the group, Abass-Aleshinloye, lamented that it was a wrong statement to be heard from the governor, stating that the group has lost 27 members to death in the last four years.
He attributed their deaths to lack of funds to cater for their health, which was a result of the governor refusing to pay them their entitlements.
According to him, the move by Makinde to go back to the Supreme Court is deceptive, as the Court has already ordered him to pay them their entitlements.
“Makinde knows that the Supreme Court, which ordered him to pay in the first place, can no longer order him not to pay. This is just an exercise in futility,” he said.
He maintained that the group will explore all legal means to ensure that what is due them is paid to them, adding that the group has engaged their legal and technical advisers to get their entitlements as good citizens.
