The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has mourned the passing of Ondo state governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, describing it as shocking and unfortunate, News About Nigeria reports.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by its publicity secretary, Olawale Sadare, the Oyo state chapter of the party expressed their sadness at the death of the governor, noting that the governor made notable contributions to society when it concerned humanity, democracy, and good governance.
The party sympathised with his wife, the First Lady of Ondo State, Mrs. Betty Akeredolu as well as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the Party, and the good people of Ondo over the transition of Akeredolu, who, according to the party, died at a time his services were still needed by his people.
They noted that the governor had made such an impact on the lives of his people, maintaining that he was a dogged fighter, an astute legal practitioner, and a patriotic Democrat who would not spare any effort to ensure that he promoted justice and fairness at all times, regardless of the risk involved.
“We pray to God to grant him eternal rest and give his family and the good people of the Sunshine State the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” Oyo APC stated.
Governor Rotimi Akeredolu died in the early hours of Wednesday in Lagos, after battling with a prolonged ailment.
The governor, until his death, served his second term in office, having won his election and re-election in 2016 and 2020 respectively.
