Ondo CAN Mourns Akeredolu's Passing

The Ondo State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has expressed deep sadness over the death of the state governor, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, describing it as a shocking event, News About Nigeria reports.

In a statement released by the association’s Director of Information and Communications, Mr. Daisi Ajayi, on Wednesday, the state chairman of the association, Reverend Father Anselm Ologunwa, expressed his grief, stating that the death of the governor was a colossal loss to Ondo State and Nigeria.

The CAN chairman noted that Akeredolu possessed great leadership skills while he was alive, as can be seen in the governor’s establishment of the Amotekun security outfit to his unwavering stance on national unity.

He added that the governor was a great fighter for democracy and a dedicated and loving father of all.

He further noted that the governor was a person who was dedicated and decisive, which Ologunwa noted earned him the nickname, ‘Mr. Talk and Do’.

Ologunwa cited the numerous infrastructure projects, including roads, buildings, and social initiatives, undertaken during his administration and maintained that the state will feel the impact of his absence.

He extended his condolences to the family of the late governor and the people of Ondo State, expressing his faith in the Providence of God.

However, there was a solemn mood in the usually bustling Ondo State Governor’s office in Akure following the news of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s death.

The governor died in the early hours of Wednesday after battling with a prolonged ailment, at the age of 67.
