Lawmaker Dupes OPC Chieftain Of N4m In Oyo

A self-acclaimed lawmaker, whose name has been withheld, has been called out for duping an Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) chieftain, Muritala Adekola Ifawale, in Ibadan, Oyo State, News About Nigeria reports.

The ‘E le Omo Buruku Danu’ disclosed this while speaking with newsmen on Tuesday, lamenting that the supposed lawmaker has plunged his family into hardship.

Ifawale stated that the lawmaker in the Oyo State House of Assembly in February relieved him of the sum of N4 million under false pretence.

According to him, the lawmaker, who resides at Oke Odan in Apete, Ido Local Government Area of the state, claimed to be a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and also a travel agent, earning his trust.

He noted that he had trusted the lawmaker to assist him in processing his travel documents in preparation for leaving the country and its harsh economic realities, coughing out the N4 million that he gave him.

He said his suspicion about the lawmaker began to heighten, leading him to believe that he had been dumped when he stopped taking his calls, adding that all efforts geared towards reaching him proved abortive.

He, however, noted that recently, he started receiving messages from the lawmaker, telling him that he is now in the FCT, and added that it has always been from one excuse to the next whenever he requests his money.

He therefore appealed to the governor, Seyi Makinde, and leaders in the state to intervene in the matter, maintaining that if it persists, he will have no choice but to carry out actions.
