We Don't Have A King - Ondo Community kingmakers Say

Kingmakers in Alade-ldanre community in the ldanre council area of Ondo State have said that there is no king in the community, noting that whoever paraded himself as a monarch in the community is an imposter, News About Nigeria reports.

The Prime Minister and Regent of the town, Chief Oladipo Akinsowon, disclosed this while speaking after a meeting with critical stakeholders, which include traditional kingmakers, chiefs, and youth of the community, stating that a new monarch would soon be selected and therefore the seat of the community’s monarch was currently empty.

He noted that they were being careful in the selection of a new Oba, as they would not like to follow a process that violates the tradition and custom of the community, adding that the process to replace the late Oba Olusegun Akinbola, who joined his ancestors three years ago, will start soon.

He maintained that anyone parading as a monarch was a fraudster and an imposter, adding that as Regent, he has occupied the throne for the past three years taking control of the community and holding meetings with the chiefs of the community as the acting Oba.

Akinsowon further noted that the installation of a new Oba will be done the traditional way without relying on any recommendations.

He added that a consult will be done with the elders of the community to put them through and guide them on the way forward.

“Before you can become an Oba, you must belong to a ruling house and we have two ruling houses in Alade which are the Akinbola and Akinboro,” he said.
