Jailbreak: Three Inmates Escape Ijebu Ode Correctional Home

Three inmates successfully escaped from the Ijebu Ode Correctional Home located in the Ijebu Ode Local Government Area of Ogun State, News About Nigeria reports.

The jailbreak occurred in the early hours of Saturday around 3 a.m., as confirmed by Victor Oyeleke, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Correctional Service, Ogun State Command on Tuesday.

Oyeleke revealed that the escapees scaled the facility’s fence, leading to their getaway.

The three inmates are currently on the run, which is a source of concern for authorities.

The names of the escapees were identified as Hammed Adeboyejo, convicted of Murder/Armed Robbery; Fatai Taiwo Akande, sentenced for a Murder case from Ijebu-Igbo; and Oguntona Aliu, convicted of Sexual Offence.

A swift response has been initiated, with a search party actively working to locate and apprehend the escapees.

Oyeleke assured that the correctional service has the biometrics and contact information of the fugitives’ families, and will collaborate with other security agencies to bring them back into custody.

“Yes, it is confirmed, it happened in the early hours of Saturday morning around 3 am. A search party to bring the three of them back has been raised. We have their biometrics and we have contacts of their families,” Oyeleke said.

The Ijebu Imushin Area Command of So-Safe Corps issued a statement confirming the jailbreak and urging the public to report any sightings of the escapees to relevant authorities.

The statement also provided details about the criminal history of the escaped inmates.

However, when contacted, the So-Safe Corps Commander, Soji Ganzallo, claimed ignorance about the incident and urged the public to disregard the information.
