The All Progressive Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the country both have contrasting views on the state of the economy, especially during this period of festivities, News About Nigeria reports.
In a statement earlier on by the National Publicity Secretary of the opposition party, PDP, Debo Ologunagba claimed that the APC government led by President Bola Tinubu, through its policies, has plunged the majority of Nigerians into poverty, thus denying them the opportunity to enjoy Christmas.
He stated that President Bola Tinubu and the APC have done more harm than good since assuming power in May, including mismanaging and wreaking havoc on the nation’s economy and social life with their self-serving and oppressive policies.
According to him, these policies have made millions of Nigerian families economically stranded and socially dislocated, making it more difficult for them to afford their daily meals and other necessities of life.
“Our party is grieved that while families in other climes and nations are celebrating with joy, Nigerians are observing Christmas in hunger and misery because of the anti-people policies of the APC administration,” he said.
The APC, however, refuted everything the PDP said, stating that the PDP is a disillusioned party seeking recognition.
The National Publicity Director of the APC, Bala Ibrahim, maintained that the PDP lacked credibility and was not ready to accept that unprecedented changes had begun to take place in Nigeria.
He noted that the festive periods during the leadership of the PDP were all marked with sadness and sorrow as the people battled insecurity.
However, he pointed out that the APC, under the leadership of President Tinubu, had outdone itself, first by reducing the rate of insecurity and then by providing subsidised rates on transportation to enable Nigerians to travel and enjoy the holidays.
