Ogun Rep Member Dismisses Claim Of Assaulting Police Officer

A House of Representatives member representing Ado-Odo Ota Federal Constituency, Tunji Akinosi, has dismissed the claim that he assaulted a police officer, describing it as false and an attempt to distract him.

News About Nigeria gathered that Akinosi, in a video circulating on social media, was seen pushing a police officer at the 2023 Iganmode Day held on Saturday.

However, reacting to the video, Akinosi dismissed it, stating that the video was doctored and was in no way a representation of what truly transpired.

In a statement made public on Tuesday, the honourable member of Representatives stated that he confronted the police officer for acting irresponsibly and disrespectfully towards the state’s deputy governor.

He further mentioned that the officer had threatened to deal with him.

He pointed out that the officer was not only impolite but also disrespectful, and contrary to what others have claimed, he was linked to Senator Solomon Adeola rather than the Deputy Governor.

He added that the officer, who went by the name M. Yusuf, had rudely inquired as to the identity of the Deputy Governor.

He therefore urged the people to disregard the reports flying online of him assaulting an officer, stating that it was mere propaganda.

He also maintained that it was unverified news items put out by unknown blogs and platforms to tarnish his image and soil his good reputation.

“Akinosi is a responsible member of the House of Representatives who is working hard to fulfill his campaign promises to thousands of his constituents and he shall not be distracted,” the statement read.
