Mayorkun Vows Never To Return To Calabar After Concert Theft

Popular Nigerian musician Mayorkun has vowed never to return to Calabar following a reportedly unpleasant experience at his recent concert in the city, News About Nigeria reports.

The ‘Betty Butter’ singer had initially arrived in Calabar for the slated performance, but his post-concert remarks suggest that the event was not a pleasant one for the singer.

Mayorkun took to his official X page to express his dissatisfaction.

He tweeted; “I just want to wake up from this dream bro. Nightmare is a better word! CALABAR, You’ll probably NEVER EVER see me again, good luck to the other artistes coming for your festivals tho. Izz gone! no wam!”

Although the artist’s experience is still unknown, there are rumours that he was a victim of theft while the event was going on.

Rumours are going around that at the event, Mayorkun’s chain—which is supposedly worth millions of Naira—was stolen.

Iyanya, a fellow artiste who is originally from Cross River, the location of Calabar, addressed the issue on social media and condemned the alleged theft.

He urged the perpetrators to return the stolen item, promising personal compensation.

Iyanya stated that it is important to provide a safe and hospitable environment for artistes invited to perform in the city.

“My Calabar people, this is very bad for the peaceful people I know us to be. The government has brought my colleagues to entertain you; all you owe them is protection and great hospitality.

“If you know anyone who stole from my brother, please return it, and I will personally compensate you. Drop it at THE GRAND HOTEL; I will personally compensate you, PLEASE,” Iyanya stated.
