Naira Marley Demands Public Apology, Threatens Legal Action Against Actress Iyabo Ojo

Popular Nigerian singer, Afeez Fashola, widely known as Naira Marley, has issued a demand for a public apology from Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo over alleged defamation and libel, News About Nigeria reports.

The singer, through his legal representative, Olalekan Ojo, sent a letter dated December 12 to Ojo, accusing her of spreading false and malicious content on her Instagram account.

The allegations stem from the recent controversy surrounding the passing of Mohbad, a former signee of Naira Marley’s record label, who died under mysterious circumstances in September at the age of 27.

Iyabo Ojo has been at the forefront of advocating for justice for the late singer, accusing Naira Marley of bullying and causing trauma that led to Mohbad’s death.

In response, Naira Marley is seeking a public apology from Iyabo Ojo to be published on her official Instagram account and in a national daily within seven days of receiving the letter.

Failure to comply would result in legal proceedings, with the singer demanding damages of N500 million and a court injunction restraining Ojo from making similar defamatory statements.

The actress has not yet responded publicly to the demands.

Naira Marley and Sam Larry were arraigned on October 6 and remanded in custody over their alleged involvement in the death of former Marlian Music signee, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

They were later granted bail, which was set at the sum of N20 million each.

On Monday, November 6, Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun ordered Naira Marley and Sam Larry to submit their international passports as part of the bail conditions.

They were also required to make weekly appearances at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
