The Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, has revealed that it is set to withdraw the license of operation from 91,843 companies for failing to file their annual returns with it, News About Nigeria reports.

The commission disclosed this while releasing a list on its website of 91,843 companies for delisting.

The companies listed are, however, less than the 100,000 companies that CAC said it would remove in an earlier announcement, as some companies have adhered to the instructions and filed their annual returns.

Recall that the Corporate Affairs Commission, in August, published the list of 94,581 that it stated it was going to delist for the infractions.

The Registrar-General and Chief Executive Officer, CAC, Garba Abubakar, had also disclosed in July that the commission would step up enforcement and delete 100,000 registered companies from its database for failing to file an annual return.

He assured that notices of striking off would be sent off to erring companies before the commission embarked on the action as was contained in section 692 of the CAMA, 2020.

However, in an update on December 5, the Corporate Affairs Commission revealed that it was ready to publish the list of companies that had failed to comply with provisions of the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020, to file up-to-date annual returns under the provisions of Section 692 of the Act.

The Commission further advised companies who filed complete annual returns in response to the earlier publication to confirm the removal from the list of Companies to be struck off.
