LagRide Celebrates One Year, Promises Improved Operations

LagRide, the Lagos State-owned drive-to-own scheme and transport agency, marked its first anniversary with a commitment to enhance its operations, News About Nigeria reports.

Launched in 2022 by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, LagRide aims to empower enterprising Lagosians and provide smart mobility solutions.

The agency started with a fleet of 1,000 vehicles, including 750 SUVs and 250 sedans, overseen by Ibile Holdings Limited and Zenolynk Technologies Limited as the technology service provider.

In its first year, LagRide achieved some of its objectives and expressed gratitude to the captains and riders contributing to the daily mobility needs of Lagosians.

Despite acknowledging challenges and lessons learned, LagRide assured its commitment to improvement under the newly-appointed executive management of Ibile Holdings Limited.

The focus will be on a revalidation process for vehicle allocation, ensuring that vehicles are assigned only to eligible individuals dedicated to using them for smart mobility services.

The approved drive-to-own structure allows drivers eventual ownership of the vehicle after meeting all obligations.

LagRide emphasised its dedication to providing a superb experience for both captains and riders while acknowledging the ongoing challenges in the early stages of operation.

The agency urged the public’s understanding and confidence as it works to restore and strengthen the scheme’s mandate through the revalidation exercise.

Meanwhile, News About Nigeria reported that Bolt confirmed the suspension of over 5,000 drivers within the last six months due to issues related to non-compliance and safety.

Yahaya Mohammed, the Country Manager of Bolt, during a recent press conference in Lagos.

Mohammed highlighted the company’s commitment to safety, revealing that over N20 million had been allocated to enhance safety features, introduce advanced reporting mechanisms, and conduct awareness programs for both drivers and riders.

Emphasising safety as a top priority, Mohammed stated that Bolt’s strict compliance measures are designed to uphold safety standards and result in prompt consequences, including permanent suspension for non-compliant individuals.
