Police Warn Against Abducting Officers During Traffic Stops

The police have called on the government to fine those littering the road as a punishment, saying that littering the road is an act of unpatriotism and backwardness, News About Nigeria reports.

The Force Public Relations Officer (PRO), Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, made the call in a statement shared on his official X handle while commenting on national environmental health and law.

According to him, fining those who litter the road will be a source of revenue, thereby boosting the Internal Generated Revenue (IGR).

He further noted that it is sad, unreasonable, and unbelievable to see some drivers and passengers litter the road, especially after eating in their cars and throwing dirt on the road.

Adejobi also added that it is annoying and uncalled for to see the educated and exposed Nigerians who should understand environmental health still do the opposite, adding that it is an act of backwardness, unpatriotism, and illegality.

The Police PRO, who stated that the government can not do everything, especially in providing waste bins in cars, charged Nigerians to be patriotic by doing the right thing instead of waiting for the government to do everything for them.

Adejobi assured Nigerians that the Police would do the needful to make sure that the country’s system works while soliciting the support of the people in all areas to enable the actualisation of their vision statement.

In a similar development, the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Lagos state has commenced a fine of 5,000 for littering roads.

This, according to the Commission, is an attempt to dissuade road users from littering the road and to also sustain the efforts of street sweepers.
