The Nigerian Police Force has disclosed that investigations into the shooting of students in Abuja by officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, will commence immediately, News About Nigeria reports.

The FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, stated this while confirming the incident, adding that the three officers who were involved in the shooting have been arrested and detained.

Two students of Senior Secondary School, Life Camp, within the Jabi and Gwarinpa areas of the Federal Capital Territory, were shot by the officers at about 11:20 am on Wednesday.

The officers attached to the FCT Command of the NSCDC were at the school to maintain security during an ongoing examination on the premises.

Following the shooting incident, some students, angry and furious with what had been done to their fellow students, allegedly vandalized three patrol vehicles belonging to the NSCDC in protest.

However, the FCT Police Command came in swiftly to maintain peace and order in the area.

When contacted, the FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident, adding that the police had restored peace in the affected area.

She noted that the two students who were injured by the NSCDC officers were rushed to the hospital and are currently receiving treatment.

She further stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Haruna Garba, has ordered the commencement of an investigation into the incident.

However, the FCT Command of the NSCDC has yet to make an official comment on the development of their officers shooting at students.
