Governor Ademola Adeleke

The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has sent a message to critics accusing him of maladministration, stating that he inherited a rundown system and a state where nothing was working, News About Nigeria reports.

The governor made this known after receiving several backlashes from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state over alleged maladministration and mismanagement of funds.

In response to critics, Adeleke, who claimed that the opposition (APC) is still nursing the pain of electoral defeat, alleged that the party is ashamed to see the positive changes his administration is propagating in the state.

Meanwhile, revealing the condition of the state before he emerged as the governor, Adeleke alleged that the state was already in a dilapidated state, adding that schools, health centers, infrastructure, sports, and civil service were not functioning.

He also alleged that the state’s White House, which is the office of the governor, was like a black house, adding that government quarters were looted and vandalized, despite reports of rehabilitation before the commencement of his administration.

Moreover, speaking on the claims of mismanagement of funds, Adeleke alleged that his administration inherited a huge debt from the previous administration, revealing that workers’ salaries, pensioners’ gratuities, and pensions were not paid. The governor also alleged that the public service was disorganized, which propelled him to start building the state from scratch.

Furthermore, speaking on the construction progress in the state, the governor disclosed that 90 kilometres of roads had been constructed, with another 45 kilometres ongoing. He added that key intercity roads like the Ikirun-Osogbo Road have been constructed, while construction on Iwo-Osogbo is still ongoing.

He also mentioned that 31 schools in the state have been rehabilitated, 332 water projects have been built, and major waterworks at Iwo, Ede, and Osogbo are under rehabilitation.

On the health sector, he revealed that medical outreaches with provisions for immediate surgeries had been done on over 50,000 beneficiaries, including the provision of welfare needs for doctors and the slated construction of 345 health centres in the state.

Adeleke also said that his administration has introduced a digital economy agenda in the state, revealing that all pensioners in the state have been enrolled in the Health Insurance Scheme.
