Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has asserted that the issues between him and his predecessor, Ibikunle Amosun, have no significant impact on the socio-economic development of the state, News About Nigeria reports.
Abiodun made this statement during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.
The governor emphasized that his differences with the former governor are private and personal.
He expressed doubts about the reconciliation between him and his predecessor benefiting the state and the country at large.
Governor Abiodun and his predecessor have been engaged in a long-standing political feud, operating from different support camps in the state.
Recall that the immediate past governor and Senator representing Ogun Central, Ibikunle Amosun, had earlier declared that he was not supporting the governorship candidate of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Governor of the state, Dapo Abiodun, for his second term bid.
Amosun claimed that Abiodun had taken the state backwards from the development path his administration laid.
Amosun urged the people to cast their votes for the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Biyi Otegbeye, who hails from Ilaro in Ogun West Senatorial District.
He insisted that only Otegbeye could return the state to the positive trajectory his government had recorded.
In response, Abiodun challenged Amosun on the alleged cost of renovating a Model School he built for N830m but claimed was renovated with N3bn, stating that his predecessor lied.
Amosun served as the governor of Ogun State from 2011 to 2019, after which Abiodun assumed office in 2019.
