A former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has stated that bringing one’s marital issues to the public doesn’t solve the problem but only entertains the public, News About Nigeria reports.
Omokri made this statement in response to Davido’s Logistics Manager, Israel Afeare, popularly known as Israel DMW, who announced the end of his marriage to his wife, Sheila, in an Instagram post on Saturday.
Following Israel’s announcement, there has been a lot of back-and-forth banter between the separated couple, sparking numerous reactions on the internet.
In a post on his X account, the former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan said, “Bringing marital issues to the public has never provided solutions for anyone in the past. The best predictor of what will happen in the future is the past. When publicized, at best, your marital issues will entertain the public.”
Omokri further stated that the public does not care about Israel because he is a celebrity; they are interested in the story about his marriage ending because they love “drama and sleaze.”
He also mentioned that the heartache of anyone who brings their relationship problems to the public is not the business of the public. All they are concerned about is the latest gossip to talk about.
Omokri further stated that for bloggers, sharing such stories is usually for likes and comments, not because of genuine concerns for the parties involved. The bigger the star, the bigger the fall, which will, in turn, generate more traffic for them.
He, therefore, advised couples to think twice before bringing their relationship to the internet because people can help them destroy the relationship but cannot help them restore it, even if they want to settle things between themselves.
