Kaduna School Kidnapping: Bandits Demand N1bn Ransom For 287 Abducted Students, Teachers

Suspected bandits have reportedly abducted 6 persons from the campus of the Federal University, Dutsinma (FUDMA), Katsina State, on Wednesday.

News About Nigeria gathered that the abducted persons included women, farmers and a boy.

According to report, the six of them were working on the spare land located inside the university when the suspected bandits came in, riding not less than 10 motorcycles and took them captive.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), however, rescued three of the abductees, who were all females, while the bandits made away with the remaining three, including the boy.

Confirming the event, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Katsina State Command, Mr Buhari Hamisu, stated that his men went on a rescue mission on Thursday and were able to successfully rescue three females while the rest were still in the clutches of the bandits, including the boy.

He assured the people that the NSCDC was doing all it could to ensure all the abducted persons came back safely and was collaborating with sister security agencies and members of communities to rescue the abducted persons and bring the culprits to book.

He further revealed that the command will be in sync with the university, the army and the police, forming a joint security team to ensure the school and its environs are fortified and protected from further attacks.

Assuring the people of safety, he disclosed that the command has also frustrated the attempts of some persons to smuggle in contrabands through the border areas of Katsina and has seized the contraband items.
