Emeka Chochoo, the former manager of veteran Nigerian actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, explained on Thursday that the actor’s adopted daughter, Jasmine, and two of his sons, Daniel and Val, were not arrested but were invited by men of the Nigerian police for questioning, News About Nigeria reports.
News surfaced on Wednesday evening that they were arrested by the actor’s wife, Stella Maris, over the signatory to the actor’s account.
According to Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, who shared the news of their arrest in a post on her Instagram account, Jasmine and the actor’s sons were arrested and detained at the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex, Alagbon, Lagos, transferring N300 million donated to the ailing actor from his account.
The actress also stated in her post that the police investigation shows that the money contributed for the ailing actor was not N300 million.
However, Chochoo clarified that the three of them were invited by the police, not arrested, over the actor’s issues related to the account and his wife’s claim that N300 million was transferred from the money contribution for his treatment.
He further explained that one of the actor’s sons, Val, is not part of the questioning because he just returned to Nigeria and does not know anything about what is happening.
Recall that Mr. recently sought help from the public following a medical emergency.
Following interventions and donations from the public, the actor is said to be recovering following multiple surgeries and even the amputation of one of his legs.
