The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Works, on Friday, announced that the Third Mainland Bridge Will be closed by 7 am on Monday for repairs.
According to the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos State, Olukorede Keisha, who disclosed this in a statement, the Federal Government will close up all ramps of the Third Mainland Bridge to traffic.
Keisha further explained that the closure was because the Federal Government was set to undertake extensive repairs on the Bridge.
She also explained that the FG has perfected plans to carry out comprehensive repairs of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.
“In view of the above, the motoring public is hereby notified that all four ramps connecting Adekunle to TMB will be closed at the same going forward,” the statement partly reads.
Keisha also appealed to motorists to continue to use alternative routes during the period of the repair of the bridge.
The Lagos State Federal Controller of Works also tasked motorists to obey traffic rules and to cooperate with officials in order to ensure hitch-free movement during the repairs.
News About Nigeria reports that comprehensive repair of the 11.8 km Third Mainland Bridge began with the closure of the Adekunle ramp on 6 November 2023.
However, the main carriageways of the Third Mainland Bridge, both Island and mainland-bound, are still open to traffic.
The Adekunle section of the Third Mainland Bridge has four ramps with a convergence point, and the repairs of all the ramps are expected to be completed within five weeks.
