PDP Holds Reconciliation Meeting In Enugu, Seeks Unity

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) acting National Chairman, Alhaji Umar Damagum has announced that the party is carefully reviewing the outcomes of the recent governorship elections in Kogi and Imo states before making any formal decisions.

News About Nigeria gathered that following a meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) in Abuja on Tuesday, Damagum addressed the media and called on participants in the elections to pursue legal avenues for redress, despite reservations about the judiciary system.

Expressing concern about the need for a responsive and responsible judiciary, Damagum emphasised the importance of the country and urged everyone to remember that there would be a judgment day.

“I want to use this opportunity to call on the judiciary to be responsive and responsible in dispensing justice in this country because we need this country.

“This country is bigger than all of us. It will outlive all of us”, urging that everyone should know that there is going to be a judgment day,” he said.

He called on Nigerians to maintain peace and pray for divine intervention in the affairs of the nation.

Assuring party members of the NWC’s commitment to unity and strength, Damagum encouraged self-reflection on individual and collective actions during the election period.

Addressing the internal party crisis regarding the position of the national secretary, Damagum acknowledged conflicting court orders on the matter.

He revealed that the PDP was actively working on an amicable resolution using alternative dispute resolutions.

Damagum informed both parties involved, Sam Anyanwu and Sunday Udeh-Okoye, to withdraw all court matters and resolve the issue internally.

The NWC appointed the deputy national secretary to act as the Secretary temporarily, maintaining unity amid conflicting court orders and regional resolutions.
