Former President Muhammadu Buhari has commended the Imo and Kogi gubernatorial candidates, Senator Uzodimma and Usman Ododo, on their victories in the Imo and Kogi state elections.
News About Nigeria reports that the governorship elections were held on the 11th of November, 2023, in Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa states.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Uzodimma the winner after he secured victories in all 27 local government areas of Imo state, amassing a total of 540,008 votes.
Similarly, Ododo was declared the winner of the Kogi gubernatorial election with 446,237 votes, followed closely by Muri Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party with 259,052 votes.
According to a statement by the former president’s spokesman, Garba Shehu, on Monday, Muhammadu Buhari appreciated the two states for placing their confidence in the nation’s largest political party.
Buhari expressed his gratitude to the party leaders and workers who worked diligently to ensure the victory of the two candidates.
He commended the people of Imo and Kogi states for their confidence in the All Progressive Congress (APC) and congratulated Uzodimma on his re-election and Ododo on his new position as the Governor of Kogi state.
In his statement, Buhari wished both governors a successful tenure and urged them to work towards improving the lives of their citizens and ensuring their happiness.
“The former President thanked particularly the party leaders and the workers who laboured tirelessly to ensure the victory of Senator Hope Uzodimma for his second term in Imo and Usman Ododo as the new governor of Kogi state. My best wishes to them for their next tenure,” he said.
