Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested the Pastor of a Cherubin and Seraphim Church in the Agbado area of the state, identified simply as Sunday, for abducting and raping a 21-year-old lady, Aliu Blessing, News About Nigeria reports.
According to the Police, the pastor, who was also arrested for fake prophecies, lured the victim when she came to the church to take care of her sick sister.
The pastor had prophesied that she would die on her wedding day if she refused to have sexual intercourse with him.
He also allegedly threatened her that any other man apart from him who tried to have sexual intercourse or a relationship with her would die.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, also disclosed that the pastor abducted the lady on February 2, 2023, to an unknown location, leaving her family in pain while they searched for her.
After over seven months of the alleged abduction, the victim’s uncle, Aliu Yusuf, told the police that the family was shocked when Blessing, who returned home on November 5, 2023, narrated how Sunday took her to his family house in the Ilaro area of the state and subsequently to a hotel, where he forcefully had sex with her.
The Command’s spokesperson disclosed that the suspect had confessed to the crime and would be prosecuted.
She noted that the victim, on the other hand, has been taken to the hospital for proper examination after showing signs of a mental disorder which, according to her, is probably a psychiatric problem.
