5 people have been reported dead and several others injured as bandits attack Sayaya village in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State. News About Nigeria reports.
According to a security official who pleaded anonymity, the bandits attacked the community on Monday night, armed with various kinds of complex weapons.
He revealed that while 5 persons were killed as several others injured, 7 people were also abducted by the hoodlums to an unknown destination.
A similar attack had only a day before, happened in the neighboring community, in Musawa Local Government Area of the state.
It had been reported that on Sunday around 10pm, the hoodlums had invaded the Maulud celebration which was happening at Rugar Kusa community, killing 14 persons, who attended the celebration.
According to report, the bandits had surrounded the venue of the celebration, firing gunshots at the guests, injuring many and abducting several others. After the attack had died down, corpses of the students were found.
The attack, which is alleged to be a revenge, lasted over an hour with no fewer than 20 residents kidnapped.
It was said that the bandits upon arriving the community had started shooting sporadically throwing the residents into panic.
Six of the persons killed were from the Rugar Kusa community, two from Gidan Malamai, and six from Yar Unguwa of Musawa and Matazu Local Government Areas respectively.
Upon intervention, the victims where injured were taken to the Musawa General Hospital and the Federal Teaching Hospital, Katsina for treatment.
The hoodlums however escaped into their hideouts before the police and other security operatives could get there
