President Bola Tinubu on Monday expressed his heartfelt sympathy to the Canadian Government and the victims of the fire incident which occurred at the Canadian High Commission in Abuja.

In a statement by the President’s Special Adviser (Media and Publicity), Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu commiserated with the Commission over the fire outbreak.

The President also sent his condolences to the families of the victims who lost their lives, praying that the Lord gives them strength to bear the loss and also grant the dead eternal rest.

Tinubu also wished the hospitalized victims a quick recovery.

The statement reads in part, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu sympathises with the Canadian government, the diplomatic community, and all persons affected by a fire incident which occurred on Monday at the Canadian High Commission in Abuja.

“President Tinubu prays for the repose of the departed souls and wishes all injured persons a rapid and full recovery.”

Tinubu also assured the Canadian authorities of his administration’s support for the High Commission’s diplomatic and local staff who were affected by the incident.

News About Nigeria had earlier reported that there was a fire outbreak at the High Commission of Canada to Nigeria, located in the Central Business District of Abuja.

The fire reportedly claimed the lives of two people while two others who were injured with several burns were hospitalized.

The fire outbreak was reportedly caused by the Canadian Embassy in Nigeria’s power generating plant, which exploded during repairs, killing two persons who were part of the technical crew.
