The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the February 25 election, Peter Obi, on Monday, spoke about the Supreme Court verdict upholding the election of President Tinubu.
The Former Governor of Anambra State, in a world press conference held in the Labour Party’s headquarters in Abuja, stated that the Supreme Court, in its judgement, ignored rigging, identity theft, forgery, and perjury.
Obi further alleged that the court’s decision contradicts the overwhelming evidence of election rigging, false claims of technical glitches, and substantial non-compliance to the rules set by the Independent National Electoral Commissioner, INEC.
“The Supreme Court ignore rigging, identity theft, forgery, perjury and does not represent the stand of our constitution,” Obi said.
He added that democracy in Nigeria is the main victim of the Supreme Court drama.
Obi, however, assured his supporters and Nigerians at large that it is not yet the end, reiterating that a new Nigeria is not an event but a journey that would be achieved.
According to him, he would not give up on his quest for a new Nigeria that is founded on; character, competence, integrity, compassion, and the rule of law.
He also noted that together with his Vice Presidential Candidate in the election and the LP, they would ensure that young people would not give up in the fight for a New Nigeria by holding their hands and ensuring they come out of the failed judgement of the apex court stronger and more committed to a new Nigeria.
News About Nigeria recalls that the Supreme Court had, on October 26, 2023, upheld the election of President Bola Tinubu as president in line with the verdict of the Appeal Court.
Tinubu was declared the winner of the hotly contested February 25 presidential election by the INEC.
