I Didn’t Sack Rivers CJ, Others – Governor Fubara Reveals

Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, has refuted claims made by certain media outlets that he fired Justice Simeon Amadi, the state chief judge, and suspended the chairs of the 23 local government units.

There were also many unsubstantiated reports that the governor fired his chief security officer after the crisis that shook the State House of Assembly after an attempt to remove him from office and the chaos that followed.

Prior reports had indicated that Fubara had sacked members of his cabinet who were faithful supporters of former governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in order to establish his authority.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Warisenibo Johnson, the state commissioner for information and communications, stated that the reports that had been made in various media outlets were completely false and unsubstantiated.

Fubara, according to Johnson, is a “technocrat with robust civil service background” and a good-hearted person who follows the law and has a fear of God.

“This is to clarify that His Excellency has not given me such directive as the official spokesman of the state government as of today, Tuesday, October 31, 2023,” the statement partly read.

News About Nigeria had earlier reported the power show between the Rivers Governor and his predecessor.

Reports suggest that the Rivers State governor claimed that his predecessor, who currently serves as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, was not allowing him to effectively carry out his functions as the state governor. Hence the plot to impeach him on the floor of the State Assembly.
