The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, has mocked the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi, stating that they cannot become presidents of Nigeria until President Bola Tinubu completes his second term in office.
News About Nigeria reports that the APC chairman made this statement in a press release signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Edwin Olofu while expressing his appreciation for the Supreme Court’s decision, which upheld the victory of President Tinubu in the February 25 presidential election.
He further emphasized that the Supreme Court’s decision, which has put to rest all claims by the opposition political parties that the votes in the presidential poll were manipulated in favour of Tinubu, has paved the way for Tinubu’s administration to focus on implementing their ‘Renewed Hope’ mandate, which they promised to Nigerians for the benefit of all.
Ganduje also congratulated the candidates of the PDP and the Labour Party for their relentless fight, which, according to him, was conducted in accordance with the law.
He went on to suggest that there is still room for them to realize their presidential aspirations, but it will be after President Tinubu’s second term in office in 2031.
“Nigeria belongs to all of us, and it is our responsibility as patriots to pool our resources together to move the country forward. I congratulate both Atiku and Obi for their tenacious efforts in expanding the frontiers of our democracy and the rule of law. This is democracy. Tinubu’s victory is another triumph for democratic rule in the country. There is still an opportunity for both Obi and Atiku to realize their presidential aspirations after President Tinubu’s second term in 2031,” he said.
The APC chieftain also urged Nigerians from various political backgrounds to offer unwavering support to the President, so that he can fulfil the mandate he promised and ensure that Nigerians can enjoy the dividends of democracy and sustainable progress.
