Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw, who serves as the representative of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), has issued a response to Stella Maris, the wife of veteran actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu.
News About Nigeria gathered that Stella Maris had criticised the AGN for not providing adequate support to her husband, who is currently facing a critical illness.
Kate Henshaw vehemently denied allegations made by Stella Maris, who claimed that the AGN had abandoned Mr Ibu during his time of need. Henshaw clarified that the AGN has never neglected any of its members, especially in matters concerning health.
Stella Maris, in response, posted a video on social media, claiming that the AGN’s statement was entirely fabricated and devoid of truth. She disclosed that, before her husband’s health crisis, she had received no assistance or response when trying to contact the Actors Guild.
In a recent Instagram video, Kate Henshaw criticised Stella Maris for spreading what she considered to be falsehoods. She insisted that the AGN had been providing support to Mr Ibu since 2021.
While recognising the difficult circumstances Stella Maris may be facing, Kate emphasised that it was inaccurate to characterise the AGN as unhelpful to her husband.
“Good morning my attention has been drawn to a video circulating on social media as of last night made by Mr Ibu’s wife. Let me state here categorically that this would be the last statement I would make on this issue.
“The crux of the matter is that someone is ill, asking for help and the focus is on him to get better.
“As of 2022/2021, when issues arose concerning his health, I was not the public relations officer for the Actors Guild. My election into this post was this year as an executive of the Actors Guild of Nigeria.
“Let me state categorically and vehemently that AGN has been of help to Mr Ibu. As an association and esteemed member of the guild.
“I do understand that she is at her wit’s end, anybody would be, but to say AGN lied isn’t true,” she said.
