Wema Bank, renowned for its innovation and commitment to excellence, has recognized and rewarded exceptional educators in the ‘Wema Celebrates Teachers’ competition. This remarkable campaign is dedicated to honoring and commending teachers who have left an indelible mark on the field of education.
The bank, in a grand event held recently at the prestigious Oriental Hotel in Lagos, presented cheques to the top three teachers who emerged as the winners in the competition.
Olawale Ibraheem Gbenusola, hailing from Vetland Senior Grammar School in Lagos, clinched the coveted 1st position, earning a well-deserved N2 million cash prize. Raheem Kehinde Hassan, a teacher at Araromi Ilogbo Secondary School, Lagos, secured the 2nd position and received a N1.5 million cash prize. Adeniran Basirat Adedoyin, who teaches at Dolphin Junior High School, Lagos, took home a cash prize of N1 million in the 3rd position.
Moruf Oseni, the MD/CEO of Wema Bank, delivered a passionate speech during the event. He emphasized the bank’s unwavering commitment to championing excellence and innovation in the education sector. He said, “Teachers deserve more than mere recognition; they deserve to be celebrated for their tireless efforts in shaping young minds and molding the future. The ‘Wema Celebrates Teachers’ Competition kicked off on September 18, 2023, and closed for applications on September 29, 2023. In this competition, students were invited to nominate teachers who had made a significant positive impact on their lives and were deserving of celebration and recognition. The competition received an overwhelming response with over 60 entries, all meticulously reviewed to identify the top 10 teachers, from which the three exceptional winners were chosen.
