Nigeria singer and multi-award winner, Tiwatope Savage, popularly known as Tiwa Savage, has made the difficult decision to postpone all her upcoming performances, including her highly anticipated first-ever headline arena show in London, News About Nigeria reports.
The ‘Somebody’s Son’ singer revealed that she has been battling a persistent virus for the past few weeks and has been advised by medical professionals to adhere to strict vocal rest for the next several months.
Tiwa Savage shared this news with her fans through a statement posted on her social media platforms.
In the statement, she expressed her deep regret and disappointment over the necessity to reschedule her performances. She emphasised her commitment to preserving her vocal health and well-being.
The statement reads, “To my dear Savage Soldiers, I’ve been fighting off a virus for the past few weeks and was today firmly instructed to be on strict vocal rest for the next few months.
“I will unfortunately have to postpone all performances, including my first-ever headline arena show in London. I’m heartbroken and devastated, but I have to do this to save what’s left of my voice.
“I’m so sorry. I love you all and promise to be back performing once I’m fully healed.”
In July of 2022, Tiwa Savage was conferred with an honorary doctorate at her alma mater, the University of Kent in the United Kingdom.
The University of Kent took to the popular social media platform, Twitter to share a photo of the hip hop sensation as she received the certificate at Canterbury Cathedral.
The photo was captioned, “Congratulations Dr @TiwaSavage! We’re super proud to have awarded the Queen of Afrobeats an honorary doctorate at Canterbury Cathedral this morning.”
In her message to the school class of 2022, the singer said “I’m super proud and I want you to go out there, have fun and kill it. Be the best you that you can be because you truly deserve it.”
Tiwa Savage studied Business Administration at the university before embarking on her illustrious career in Music.
