Former Presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has debunked claims that he slammed the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, for taking sides with Israel in the ongoing stand-off between Hamas and Israeli forces.
Debunking the reports in a tweet, Mr Omokri explained that he only called Adeboye’s attention to the need for also praying for Palestine.
He explained that half a million of the Palestinian population were Christians and might feel ignored and abandoned when a well-respected cleric like Adeboye decides to pray for the victory of Israel.
“I politely drew the attention of Pastor Adeboye to the necessity of also praying for Palestine and Palestinians, and not just Israel,” Mr Omokri said.
He further explained that pastor Adeboye’s prayers could be translated to mean that the clergyman was pitching his tent with Israel in the ongoing war between the neighbouring nations.
News About Nigeria recalls that the renowned clergyman had come under heavy criticism following his prayer for the Israelites over its ongoing war with Hamas.
Pastor Adeboye had prayed that God granted Israel peace and victory. However, Nigerians have continued to fault him for taking sides with Israel.
