Veteran Nigerian singer, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has slammed former presidential candidate, Fela Durotoye for accepting the appointment offered to him by President Bola Tinubu.

News About Nigeria recalls that President Tinubu on  Monday announced the appointment of Mr Durotoye into his cabinet alongside some other appointees.

However, in a tweet on Tuesday, Charly Boy said he was not surprised by Mr Durotoye’s appointment, because the former presidential candidate joined the 2019 presidential election race as a spoiler.

According to him, Mr Durotoye was among some of the favourite influencers of the masses that have ‘soiled’ their hands by accepting appointment from President Tinubu.

“So many influencers and supposed role models are joining the APC gang of yahoo men. Fela Durotoye have joined side with our tormentors. Congrats, am however not surprised. I have encountered dis young man personally 5/6yrs ago when he came seeking for my support for his presidential ambition. He joined the presidential race as a spoiler,” Charly Boy wrote.

The veteran singer further alleged that President Tinubu’s government would announce more appointments that would shock Nigerians in the coming days.

Recall that Fela Durotoye had in the buildup to the 2019 general election joined forces with the publisher of Sahara Reporters Omoyele Sowore and a former Deputy Governor at the  Central Bank of Nigeria, Kingsley Moghalu as they sought to emerge as a third force that will oust the ruling All Progressives Congress and main opposition Peoples Democratic Party.

However, the pact failed to yield results as the three politicians eventually contested at the 2019 presidential election on the platform of different parties and failed to pull adequate votes to emerge the winner of the 2019 general election.
