Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party and an ally of Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the PDP at the 2023 presidential election has spoken against claims that Atiku forged his West African Certificate Examination result.

Mr Momodu, in a tweet on Tuesday, revealed that members of the ruling party have been bombarding him with allegations that his principal forged his certificate.

He further detailed that he reached out to Atiku Abubakar who cleared that Atiku confirmed using the name Sadiq Abubakar to sit for his WAEC examination.

He cleared that Atiku, however, swore an affidavit to indicate that both names are his.

“Yes I used Sadiq Abubakar to sit for my WAEC and after passing my exams I went to swear an affidavit to say I am the same person as ATIKU Abubakar. I went to ABU as Atiku Abubakar and passed my Exams as Atiku Abubakar. Interviewed as Atiku Abubakar by the Federal Civil Service Commission and hired into the Customs Service as Atiku Abubakar. So where is forgery there?”  Dele Momodu quoted Atiku to have said.

News About Nigeria recalls that forgery allegations were levelled against Atiku Abubakar in the heat of the controversies surrounding the authenticity of the certificate presented by President Bola Tinubu to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Mr Atiku was accused of using Sadiq Abubakar while writing his WAEC examination.

The allegation came just as Chicago State University confirmed that it did not issue the certificate that Tinubu presented to INEC in the buildup to the 2023 presidential election.

Political analysts have, however, termed forgery allegations against Atiku as an attempt to distract Nigerians from the gravity of the CSU certificate forgery case against Tinubu.
