Popular comic actor and director, Charles Inojie, has ignited a conversation about the challenges facing the Nigerian movie industry, particularly the issue of sex-for-role and the desperation among some actresses.
Inojie voiced his concerns during a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast.
The veteran actor shed light on what he perceives as a two-way problem in the industry.
Inojie mentioned that while some actresses are willing to do anything to secure roles, there are also directors and producers who lack proper character and moral values, making them susceptible to compromising situations.
Inojie explained; “There are some actresses who can do anything just to be in front of the camera. And when you meet a character who is not properly formed as the director or producer, he will fall. So, there are actresses like that. The issue of sex-for-role is not just one-way. It is a two-way thing.
He further pointed out that there is a noticeable level of desperation among certain aspiring actresses, which makes them vulnerable to the advances of unscrupulous directors and producers.
News About Nigeria gathered that Inojie attributed this desperation to the backgrounds from which some of these individuals come.
“There is also an army of Jezebel daughters looking for directors and producers to fall… So, the level of desperation among some of these girls is also an issue.
“That’s why they are quick to fall into the traps set by a lot of producers and directors with characters that are not properly formed; people who came from very shaky backgrounds.”
