Afrobeats artiste David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has responded to comedian AY’s public apology after he made an insensitive joke.
News About Nigeria gathered that during a recent performance in Warri, AY made a joke that many considered insensitive and disrespectful.
He joked about Davido impregnating many women with his ‘small manhood’ while he (AY) had been trying to do the same with his supposedly ‘larger one’ for over 13 years.
“Davido, with his small prick, dey give people belle, belle, belle, belle. With my big Warri prick, 13 years belle no come,” he said.
The joke immediately drew criticism from netizens and fans who accused the comedian of publicly disrespecting his fellow entertainer.
In response to the backlash, AY took to Instagram to offer a public apology to Davido.
He acknowledged that his joke was poorly delivered and expressed regret for how it had been misconstrued by blogs and the public.
He wrote: “I am so sorry for telling that joke the way it came out in Warri. I shouldn’t even call it a joke anymore. It wasn’t funny like it was during my tour of Canada and US and you have every right to be angry after seeing how the blogs used it.
“Please know that it is always a learning experience for all of us in the entertainment business. I deserve any backlash coming my way for the joke that was badly delivered. No excuses at all, my Aburo. No reason am. I remain your number one fan, and I love you, @davido.”
In response, Davido reassured AY, saying, “Nothing spoil baba mi.”
