Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has taken to social media to challenge the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) following their recent claim that they did not arrest or detain the late singer, Mohbad.
Ojo shared video clips of the arrest incident that transpired in February 2022, which had widely circulated on social media, alongside a video of Mohbad recounting how he was allegedly given a substance to drink while in NDLEA custody.
In her Instagram post, Ojo expressed her disbelief over the NDLEA’s recent statements and questioned why the agency did not come forward to refute the news earlier if it was indeed false.
News About Nigeria reports that she emphasised that there appeared to be a situation in the videos, which clearly depicted individuals she identified as NDLEA personnel involved in the arrest, physical confrontation, and alleged harassment of Mohbad.
She captioned her post, “My take!!! This happened in February 2022. Why didn’t the @ndlea_nigeria come out then to correct or debunk the news if it was all lies!!! Clearly, there was a situation, are these not your men, beating, harassing, and arresting… or am I not seeing handcuffs?”
This development comes amid ongoing controversies surrounding the circumstances of Mohbad’s untimely death on September 12, 2023, which had led to protests by fans and celebrities.
The police have also made several arrests in connection to the case, including that of Mohbad’s former record label boss, Naira Marley and Sam Larry.
Furthermore, Owodunni Ibrahim, widely recognized as ‘Primeboy’ and a close associate of Mohbad, is currently in police custody over the matter.
