Kaduna Governor Uba Sani Blames Media For Confusion Over Tribunal Ruling

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has condemned the media for the confusion surrounding the recent judgment delivered by the Election Petition Tribunal in sitting in Kaduna, News About Nigeria reports.

Governor Sani expressed his disappointment in most of the country’s mainstream media for the manner they handled the news regarding the tribunal’s ruling on Thursday.

The confusion started when reports suggested that the tribunal had declared the March 18 governorship election in Kaduna inconclusive and ordered a rerun in some parts of the state.

These reports are said to have contradicted the actual outcome of the tribunal’s decision, which dismissed the petition filed by Isah Ashiru, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), challenging Sani’s election.

During an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Governor Uba Sani clarified the situation, emphasizing that the tribunal had dismissed Ashiru’s case due to a lack of merit. He praised the court for upholding his victory and called for unity in moving Kaduna State forward.

Sani believes that the wrong media coverage was fueled by the misinformation they were fed by the opposition party PDP. He emphasized the need for accurate reporting, as well as the need for media outlets to exercise responsible journalism.

Meanwhile, in a statement released after the tribunal’s judgment, Sani thanked Isah Ashiru, the opposition candidate for utilizing the legal process to express his grievances with the election.

The governor stated his belief in democracy and fair hearing, and the right of individuals to challenge election results genuinely, in court.
