Nollywood actress and producer, Mary Njoku, has strongly condemned the call for a DNA test to be conducted on the son of the late Nigerian singer, Mohbad, describing it as an act of cruelty.
The untimely death of Mohbad, a former signee of Marlian Records, on September 12, 2023, has left Nigerians, including his fans and celebrities, seeking justice for the circumstances surrounding his demise.
Amidst the ongoing calls for justice, some individuals have begun demanding that Mohbad’s widow, Omowunmi, submit their 5-month-old son, Liam, for a DNA test to dispel any doubts about his parentage.
News About Nigeria reports that in response to this controversial demand, Mary Njoku took to Instagram to express her disapproval.
She pointed out that it was morally wrong to request a DNA test from a grieving widow and encouraged others to respect her mourning process.
Mary Njoku emphasised that if the late singer had never doubted the paternity of his child, there was no valid reason for anyone else to do so.
She called for the focus to remain on seeking justice for Mohbad rather than adding to the widow’s distress.
“Asking a mourning widow to submit her son for a DNA test is pure evil. She just lost a husband! Lost a father to her child! Lost her Helper and her Protector of over 10yrs. Let her mourn in peace.
“If you can’t support her, don’t add to her misery! Small money don enter now and we are asking for DNA test. Just because she isn’t rich.
“If her husband didn’t doubt the paternity of his child, who are we to think otherwise? Don’t frustrate his family. Please let’s focus on getting #justiceformohbad.”
