Nigerian singer Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, popularly known as Spyro, has candidly revealed his past struggles with pornography addiction.
In an interview with Echoo Room, the artiste shared his personal journey and clarified his stance on fellow musicians’ lifestyles in the secular music industry.
Spyro clarified that he does not aim to preach holiness within the entertainment world but rather to encourage individuals to make choices that align with their values.
News About Nigeria reports that he emphasised that he is not exempted from human experiences and temptations and that everyone has their own challenges.
The singer acknowledged that he, too, faced personal struggles, including a long battle with pornography addiction.
He used this revelation to connect with others who might be going through similar challenges, letting them know that they are not alone.
Spyro expressed his belief that artistes can still achieve success and financial stability by producing music that aligns with their values.
While he acknowledged the complexities of the music industry, he encouraged fellow musicians to stay true to themselves and their principles.
He said, “I struggled with pornography for years. I’m not a saint. I go through these things. I’m in here with you guys. I’m not saying that I’m holy. Everyone is far from holy.
“And I’m not coming to preach to people that you’ve to be holy. I’m human just like you. But I’m just saying that as much as we can.”
This disclosure from Spyro comes after he faced controversy for comments made in a podcast interview where he implied that fellow artist Shallipopi’s music might inspire fraudulent activities.
