Tope Fasua, the CEO of Global Analytics Consulting, has been appointed by President Bola Tinubu to the position of Special Adviser on Economic Affairs in the Vice President’s office.
News About Nigeria reports that Fasua made his appointment known via his verified X handle.
“So, yours truly has been appointed Special Adviser to the President on Economic Affairs in the VP’s office. Just what I wanted for national impact. We thank God Almighty and those who remembered me and insisted. For God and country,” Mr Fasua said.
At the Ondo State University, Fasua, a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), studied economics and graduated best in his class in 1991.
His second degree, in Financial Markets & Derivatives, was earned from the London Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom. With the now-defunct Citizens Bank, he began his career in 1992. Later on, he was employed by Standard Trust Bank and Equatorial Trust Bank, where he eventually attained the rank of Principal Manager/Regional Director in Abuja.
Mr. Fasua is a frequent economics and financial markets analyst on television. He holds a PhD in public administration and has taken executive education courses at Harvard University and the London Business School.
He organised a group of Nigerians to join the Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party in 2016, and the party chose him to run for president in the general elections of 2019.
In addition to “Crushed and Things to Do Before Your Career Disappears”, he has written several other works.
His appointment comes as President Tinubu continues to work towards reviving the country’s deteriorating economy. Recall that the removal of fuel subsidy had further worsened the economic situation for Nigerians. However, the President Tinubu-led government has rolled out palliative measures to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.
