Nollywood actress, Bimbo Ademoye, has disclosed that she does not have a relationship with her mother due to a history of estrangement that dates back to her childhood.
The revelation came during an interview where she shared some personal aspects of her life, News About Nigeria gathered.
Ademoye clarified that her mother is still alive and resides relatively close to her but despite the physical proximity, she explained that they do not share a close bond or friendship.
She said she does not like talking about this topic because she wants to maintain privacy in her personal life.
The actress revealed that her mother left when she was just two years old, marking her first experience of betrayal.
While there have been attempts to build some semblance of a relationship, Ademoye emphasised that there was never a strong connection between them. She expressed her efforts to fulfil her duties as a child, such as providing financial support for expenses like rent and allowances.
“My mum is very much alive. She lives like 15-20 minutes away from me. We just don’t have a friendship. I don’t talk about it because I would love for people to respect that. I’m a very private person.
“My mum left when I was two. My first ever betrayal came from my mother. We kind of tried to rekindle – I wouldn’t say rekindle because there was no romance there. I didn’t get to know her.
“I tried to build a relationship with her. I’m doing my duty as a child. Paying for this, the rent, allowances,” she said.
