The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) in Abuja has unveiled a list of senior lawyers, including Kayode Ajulo, a renowned constitutional lawyer, for the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
News About Nigeria reports that the list, comprising 69 candidates, includes notable legal experts such as Funmi Falana, wife of Femi Falana (SAN), and Folashade Alli, daughter of Chief Afe Babalola (SAN), among others.
The LPPC’s announcement followed a rigorous selection process that involved multiple stages, including academic pre-qualification, independent appeals hearings, and chamber inspections.
According to the LPPC, the shortlisted applicants are categorized into two groups: advocates and academic applicants.
“All qualified shortlisted applicants are graded under two-category systems by the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee, namely advocates and academic applicants respectively,” LPPC said.
Ajulo, one of the distinguished candidates, is not only a constitutional lawyer but also a prominent rights activist known for his extensive knowledge and advocacy in various legal domains, including constitutional law, corporate and commercial law, and human rights.
Ajulo who was shortlisted as an academic applicant, holds a law degree from the University of Jos in Nigeria and has furthered his education at international institutions.
He currently serves as a research scholar at Lincoln University College and shares his expertise as an adjunct lecturer at several universities, including Adekunle Ajasin University in Ondo State.
His contributions to Constitutional Law have earned him numerous accolades, including the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) award conferred on him by former President Muhammadu Buhari.
