Netizens have continued to criticise the Nigerian police authorities for failing to protect Mohbad after he petitioned the authorities for being subjected to abuse by socialite, Sam Larry.
News About Nigeria reports that on Thursday, a petition written by Mohbad against Sam Larry surfaced on social media.
The deceased singer had in the petition complained about the assault he suffered at the hands of Sam Larry.
Mohbad claimed that during the assault in June, Sam Larry and his boys disrupted his music video shoot, destroying equipment worth over 5 million.
The emergence of the petition further angered Nigerians who believed that the police failed to diligently take up its responsibility of safeguarding the life of the singer who was in distress at the time he filed the petition.
However, in defence of the Nigerian Police, the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command Benjamin Hundeyin said that the case was reported to the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Lagos office, headed by a superior officer, an Assistant Inspector-General of Police instead of the Lagos state police command which is headed by the State Commissioner of Police.
Despite Mr Hundeyin’s defence Nigerians have continued to slam the police for neglecting the singer when he was in distress.
“Shame on you all, shame on @PoliceNG @LagosPoliceNG @Princemoye1 also with you @BenHundeyin . What did you do to arrest oba Elegushi, foolish SammyLarry and others? But una Dey place fake 100M for DPO head when them kill for rivers. 100M when una never see give the wife and family. Police is corrupt,,” Ab Domilo Ose wrote.
