Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, claims that the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi was a pawn used by the ruling All Progressives Congress to secure the victory of President Bola Tinubu at the February 2023 presidential election.
Making this claim in reaction to comments made by Aisha Yesufu, a strong supporter of the Obi presidential ambition, Omokri said that those saying that Tinubu is not their president should wake up to reality.
“Those saying Tinubu is not my President should wake up and smell the coffee. Bola Tinubu is your President, and for that, you can blame only one person – Peter Obi,” Omokri says.
News About Nigeria recalls that over the weekend, Yesufu argued that Tinubu allegedly manipulated his way into the position and would therefore never be regarded as her president.
Omokri suggested that the Peoples Democratic Party would have won the 2023 presidential election had Peter Obi stayed with the party and not contested at the 2023 presidential election.
According to Omokri, PDP always won in every state of the Southeastern states in every election since 1999. He argued that the PDP would have still won all South Eastern states if Obi had not entered the poll.
“If Peter Obi had not contested in 2023, the PDP would still have won in the Southeastern states during the #NigerianElections2023,” he added.
He further alleged that those who advised Peter Obi to dump PDP and those who donated to his 2023 presidential ambition were all sponsored by the ruling APC
Recall that Peter Obi had in the buildup to the 2023 general election dumped the PDP to Labour Party. There were speculations that Obi left the party after he realized that he would not be able to secure the party’s presidential election ticket.
