Some unidentified cultists have reportedly gunned down Bako Amgbanshin, a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Rivers State, separating parts of his body in a viral video, News About Nigeria gathered.
Emerging reports reveal that DPO Amgbanshin was captured and dismembered by the suspected cultists during a raid in slums of Ahoada East Local Government Area, on Friday, September 8.
The late DPO had been leading a police operation alongside his team to crack down on criminal hotspots in the area when they fell into an ambush set by the elements.
According to an undisclosed source, these alleged culprits were armed with four sophisticated weapons and opened fire immediately upon spotting the police operatives.
During the exchange of gunfire, a fierce shootout ensued, lasting several minutes between the DPO-led officers and the group identified by the source as led by “2Baba,” reportedly affiliated with the “Iceland” cult.
Regrettably, the officers eventually exhausted their ammunition, forcing them to retreat, while DPO Angbanshin maintained his position.
However, in a desperate bid to escape the hostile situation, DPO Angbanshin sustained a hamstring injury and was subsequently captured by the suspects.
Confirmation of his death came with the circulation of a distressing viral video, where his head and private parts were displayed.
The disturbing video showed the suspects rejoicing around his decomposing remains, with one of them speaking in pidgin, “DPO, finally na you be dis. Now, how far? You (referring to Angnanshin) dey challenge Iceland. Who are those men? Iceland, are they dangerous?”
Meanwhile, Grace Iringe-Koko, spokesperson for the Rivers State Command of the police, acknowledged the tragic incident and promised to provide further details later.
