Popular social media influencer, Daniel Regha, has asked the management of Arise TV to caution its reporter Rufai Oseni against reeling out misleading information.
Making this call in a tweet on Friday, Regha suggested that the ace reporter was beginning to overdo things by spreading wrong information.
The popular social media critic was triggered by comments made by the reporter which allegedly suggested that Arise TV was the major media house that covered the #EndSARS protest.
“Arise TV needs to caution Oseni Rufai, he’s beginning to overdo things by spreading misinformation,” Mr Regha wrote.
The critic argued that Arise TV wasn’t the only station that covered the EndSARS protests, suggesting that journalists representing other news media risked their lives too.
“But Arise got more publicity. Good thing his colleague (Abati) corrected him on the spot,” he wrote.
Mr Regha’s comment comes barely a week after former presidential spokesman, Reno Omokri accused the ace broadcast journalist of distorting information to favour his choice of presidential candidate.
Omokri’s comment came just after the Chicago State University agreed to release the academic history of President Bola Tinubu to Atiku Abubakar.
News About Nigeria recalls that Mr Oseni had earlier alleged that the Chicago State University said Tinubu was never a student of the institution after he subpoenaed the institution requesting Tinubu’s academic profile.
However, following Chicago University’s decision to release the academic records of Tinubu to Atiku, Omokri alleged that Obi had bribed the ace reporter to work in his favour – an allegation that Peter Obi debunked terming it as a distraction.
Rufai was an unapologetic supporter of Peter Obi’s presidential ambition at the 2023 general election. Many had, however, expected that the ace reporter maintained an unbiased opinion while carrying out his duty as a journalist
